Hear What Exhibitors Say

“We launched the weplay line in the new millennium to assist child development, and our products have won many design awards. All our research and development are done in Taiwan and all our products are made in Taiwan. Because the end-users are children, we deliberately keep our manufacturing activities on the island, instead of offshoring to the Chinese mainland, in order to closely monitor the whole process. This insistence on strict control gives us full confidence in the quality of our plastic products. And this is only the first step. After making high-quality weplay products, we devise welearn programmes and software for teachers and parents to assist the children to make the most out of the physical products. We come to the HK Toys & Games Fair to help promote business for our distributors in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland and to expand our distribution channels to Southeast Asia. The organiser and its Taiwan representatives have been helpful by providing thoughtful and detail-oriented services.”
Elton Chiu, Special Assistant to the President, Weplay Kiddie's Paradise Inc., Taiwan

“The idea of our nanodots came from an online video demonstration of magnetic spheres performed by a Hungarian mathematician. The video went viral and I came upon it in 2008 when I was running some venture companies in the software business. I chatted with the mathematician online several times and engaged in some R&D work to get the size and strength right. And the nanodots were born. The product hit the Toronto retail market in 2010 and was introduced to the U.S. and U.K. soon after, grossing US$10 million in 2012. Now we are pushing into the Asian markets starting from Hong Kong. HK Toys & Games Fair is an ideal launch pad for us. During the Fair last year when we first took part, we met buyers from all over the world, not just from Asia as we had expected. We signed up the Australian franchisee right at the Fair last year and met potential partners from the U.S. and Europe. The organisation of the show is fabulous. Activities to introduce new companies such as ours are very useful for us to develop distribution channels.”
Tim Szeto, Director & Founder, Nano Magnetics, Canada

Hear What Buyers Say

“We started to import products made in the Chinese mainland six years ago after more than 60 years in toy manufacturing and distributing in Brazil. Despite the negative global economic climate, our business has been stable and we are expanding our product lines, targeting 0 to 3-year-old end-users to 3 to 5-year-old—mainly educational toys. The HK Toys & Games Fair has done wonders for us. I always find something to buy here and am happy with what I find. The quality meets the strict requirements for import to Brazil and the price is also good. For example, I found a sophisticated rattler at the show this year and I expect it to be a success in our market. That is why I don't even bother to visit other toys fairs and only make one trip to Hong Kong every year. I can find all the import items I want here in Hong Kong.”
Fabiana Amorim, Manager, Milla, Brazil

“I source for one of the largest direct-mail and online retailers and I have come to the HK Toys & Games Fair specifically looking for collectibles and hobby items for mature users. The depth and width of products on display here in Hong Kong outdo the other toys fair I visited before. And there are more generic items that have a chance to do well in the niche market that I supply to. The majority of my customers are women over 60. They shop from catalogues and online for puzzles, table-top games, collectibles and other hobby items for themselves and their loved ones. As far as I can see, this is a growth area as our populations age. I came to the Fair to look for new products and new vendors. I have found some potential suppliers. If the trail orders prove successful, I will follow with volume orders. The Fair is welcoming with efficient and courteous staff. I will come back next year.”
Frank Hartless, General Merchandise Manager, Starcrest Products of California, Inc., U.S.A.
