The HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show and Hong Kong International Stationery Fair open a world of business opportunities. At the opening ceremony held on Jan 12, fair organiser, exhibitors and buyers were joined by industry leaders, VIPs and members of the media to officially kick off the events. Following the ceremony, VIPs had a tour of the fairground to understand more about the latest exhibits on offer. |

“With a business history of 52 years, Miniland is a toy manufacturer in Spain with Europe and North America being the major markets. This is our third-year participation in Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair to raise our profile in Asia. We’ve grown our business in this part of the world steadily over the past two years. We’re here again to promote our education toys and baby products. The responses have been fantastic and even better than last year’s. We’ve met with many buyers from different countries and regions such as Australia, Taiwan, the Chinese mainland, India, Peru and Mexico. Even buyers from the Middle East have approached us. We are particularly looking for distributors to extend our presence. It will usually take about two to three months to shortlist candidates and finalise deals with potential partners. We are now using Hong Kong as a strategic platform for business expansion and this fair has become one of the major trade events for us every year.”

“This is our debut exhibition at Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair. We are taking advantage of this international fair to launch our newly-developed toy gadget FreeKick that allows players to use mobile phones to control and play a soccer kicking game. Another highlight is our Axniper shooting game controlled by PC via USB. I’m deeply impressed by the exciting atmosphere here. Our main markets include the Chinese mainland and Europe. This is our first-time exhibition at the Hong Kong Baby Products Fair because we think Hong Kong is probably the best place for us to promote our brand to international buyers and to look for distributors. We have been busy meeting customers all day. We have found many potential distributors from Africa, Asia, North America and South America. It’s a good start. We’ll maintain our presence at this fair because we believe that it takes several years to build our brand here.”

We are happy to see that the quality of the fair is improving every year in terms of exhibits and venue decorations, making it a good place to do business. Nursery product suppliers are more willing to accept small orders like 500 or 1,000 pieces. Nowadays, consumers in our markets like to buy low-end products via online shops, but for premium products, they usually shop at physical stores. Just in the first morning of the fair, we have already found four potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong for the supply of baby strollers, baby monitors and humidifiers. “Akachan Honpo operates 100 shops in Japan selling all kinds of baby products. This is my first visit to the Hong Kong Baby Products Fair. My colleagues visited this fair many times and successfully found business partners here. At this fair, I am looking for OEM manufacturers. So far, I have found some innovative designs for baby nasal aspirators and baby potties and I am also interested in night lights with thermometers and feeding products. Usually, we’ll place orders after the fair. If the products are suitable for our market, our first order will be about 10,000 pieces. I’ll come again next year because Hong Kong is Asia’s sourcing hub for baby products. Safety always comes first in our baby product market. Japanese consumers are willing to pay more if the products come with cute designs and special features. ”
